A Place to Heal: Virtue Recovery Center Stands with Veterans and Families Across the United States

-- As the U.S. continues to grapple with a growing mental health crisis among Veterans, Virtue Recovery Center is responding with a comprehensive, trauma-informed approach to care that prioritizes dignity, trust, and long-term healing. With an estimated 17 Veterans dying by suicide each day, the need for effective and accessible treatment is more urgent than ever.

Virtue Recovery Center—operating locations in Las Vegas, NV; Chandler, AZ; and Houston, TX—has worked closely with Veteran communities to develop specialized programs that address PTSD, substance use, depression, and other co-occurring conditions. The organization emphasizes individualized care over standardized protocols, acknowledging the complex, deeply personal nature of military trauma.

"Veterans aren't looking for quick fixes. They're looking for understanding and a safe place to start again," said Michael Banis, Chief Development Officer at Virtue Recovery Center. "Our programs reflect that."

Treatment offerings include trauma-focused therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), group counseling, medical detox, and relapse prevention. Sessions are often led by peers or clinicians with military experience, creating a space where Veterans can connect without judgment.

Recent data from the Department of Veterans Affairs shows suicide remains the leading cause of death among Veterans under 45. Personal stories—like that of former Marine Jason Brimmer, who died by suicide after being denied a referral to private rehab—underscore the consequences of delayed or insufficient care. Virtue Recovery Center aims to close those gaps, having supported over 1,200 Veterans in their recovery since launching Veteran-specific services four years ago.

The impact extends beyond the individual. Families often report improvements in relationships, household stability, and emotional well-being when a loved one receives comprehensive care.

Virtue Recovery’s model aligns with national efforts to reduce Veteran suicide through community collaboration, evidence-based treatment, and expanded access to care.
