According to the National Fire Protection Association, the United States has averaged close to 500,000 structure fires per year over the past decade, a figure that reflects how often fire crews are called on to perform roof ventilation during active incidents. Rapco Industries has presented its Terminator configuration to address the demand for chains that hold up during these time-sensitive operations, where a dulled or failed chain can delay ventilation and put crews at greater risk.

The configuration is built in a .375 low-profile, .050 gauge, and is compatible with both battery-powered and gas-powered saws. It is intended for indoor and enclosed-space use, since battery-operated saws do not produce carbon monoxide and offer a lighter, quieter, more maneuverable design than gas-powered models.

Its cutting face is built by combining two chain cutters with silver soldering to attach a carbide chip, a design intended to provide impact resistance for demolition-related tasks. A Rapco Industries representative states that the chain fits smaller apparatus, including squads, brush trucks, and medic units, in addition to larger fire rigs.

The chain is up to three times stronger than standard carbide chains and stays sharp up to 15 times longer. According to the Rapco Industries spokesperson, the Terminator line has served fire departments for more than 30 years, with the battery-powered configuration marking a newer addition.

Rapco Industries manufactures its chains in its facility in Vancouver, Washington, where the company has produced carbide-tipped chainsaw chains for more than four decades. It is a veteran-owned company founded in 1983 and is currently managed by Rick Fowler, its president. Over the years, the company has produced well over 100,000 feet of carbide-tipped chain, serving customers in more than 66 countries worldwide.
