A Vibrant Explosion of Dynamic Song, Featuring Composers of Color
FAIRFAX, Va. & WASHINGTON - April 29, 2025 - PRLog -- Vocal Arts of Fairfax concludes their inaugural season with Voices in Color, a celebration of composers of color. This special event will be on Saturday, May 31 at 7:00 pm at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield, VA.
"Selecting this program was a challenge—there's such a wealth of powerful music by composers of color. So many pieces spoke to me, it was hard to choose just one concert's worth," says Michael Ehrlich, Artistic Director. "I believe this music will resonate with every listener and do what music does best: build a sense of shared community."
As a tribute to the creativity, resilience, and innovation of artists whose works have shaped music history and continue to inspire today, the concert will offer audiences an important, inclusive and interactive musical journey.
From the soulful depth of traditional spirituals to the bold, modern harmonies of contemporary works, the program will span various genres—classical, jazz, gospel, folk, and contemporary pieces. Each composition illuminates the unique cultural perspectives and experiences of its creator, showcasing the transformative power of diversity in the arts.
"This concert is very special for use because it will warm your soul, bring joy and hope and provide an enriching break during these uncertain times," says Linda LaMonda, Board Chair. "I can't wait to share this with the community."
