What Happened?
Shares of intimatewear and beauty retailer Victoria’s Secret (NYSE:VSXY) fell 2.8% in the afternoon session after BMO Capital Markets analyst Kelly Crago initiated coverage with a Market Perform rating and an $80 price target. According to TipRanks, Crago said the turnaround at Victoria’s Secret and PINK is progressing, but much of that recovery is already in the share price after a sharp re-rating over the past year. The Market Perform call is part of a cautious BMO stance across softlines retail, apparel, and footwear, citing a weakening consumer and rising costs. The initiation left limited near-term upside in the firm’s framework and weighed on the stock.
The shares were trading at $76.05, down 3.1% from the previous close.

What Is The Market Telling Us
Victoria's Secret’s shares are extremely volatile and have had 41 moves greater than 5% over the last year. In that context, today’s move indicates the market considers this news meaningful but not something that would fundamentally change its perception of the business.
The previous big move we wrote about was 6 days ago when the stock dropped 10.6% on the news that the company reported its second-quarter financial results, with quarterly revenue and full-year profit guidance falling short of Wall Street's expectations. According to a company press release, Victoria's Secret reported second-quarter net sales of $1.61 billion, representing 10.4% year-over-year growth, and adjusted operating income of $124 million. The company's adjusted earnings reached $0.95 per share, topping Wall Street's estimate of $0.77 per share, while same-store sales rose 9% year on year. However, revenue fell slightly short of analyst projections of $1.62 billion. The release also said Victoria's Secret raised its full-year net sales outlook to between $7.100 billion and $7.180 billion, but its full-year adjusted earnings per share forecast of $4.58 at the midpoint missed consensus estimates by 2%. Despite the quarterly earnings beat and raised sales outlook, the revenue miss and softer full-year profit guidance weighed on investor sentiment.
Victoria's Secret is up 42.5% since the beginning of the year, but at $76.05 per share, it is still trading 23.9% below its 52-week high of $99.97 from August 2026. Investors who bought $1,000 worth of Victoria's Secret’s shares 5 years ago would now be looking at an investment worth $1,194.
